Smolik's Bar-B-Q in Cuero continues into the fourth generation of the Smolik Family. It all began when a Bohemian Czech smoked sausage on the family farm near Halletsville in the late 1800's. In 1928, his son William Harris Smolik, opened Smolik's Meat Market in Karnes City. William Benedict "Bill" Smolik continued the family tradition as a third generation sausage-maker and barbecue man for over 55 years, retiring at the age of 82. Bill's sons Michael (Mathis) and David (Cuero) brought about the fourth generation of Smolik's Meats and Barbecue.
David William Smolik was a state meat inspector at the age of 19. For over 40 years, David worked in the meat business, first alongside his father Bill and then as owner of Smolik's Quality Meats and BBQ in Cuero. Following David's death in 2013, Camille pulled up her boots and put on her gloves to take the helm of the family legacy!
